Matt DeLaney, MD (Host)
Associate Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham
Dr. DeLaney graduated from the University of South Alabama, completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine in 2011 and worked in the community before joining the faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship, is a contributor to various educational podcasts, and is a frequent lecturer at national and international conferences. Dr. DeLaney is the host of ERcast and co-host of Urgent Care RAP.
Christina Shenvi, MD (Host)
Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill
Dr. Shenvi is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and Director of the UNC Office of Academic Excellence for the School of Medicine. She is fellowship-trained in Geriatric EM, launched the Geriatric EM podcast, GEMCAST, and has served on the board of governors for the ACEP Geriatric ED accreditation. Dr. Shenvi is a passionate educator and has received multiple institutional and national teaching awards. She co-directs the ACEP Teaching Fellowship and has a passion for teaching, learning, deliberate practice, and innovative pedagogy.
Chris Colbert, DO (Host)
Assistant Residency Director; Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Emergency Medicine; ACOEP Chair of Continuing Medical Education
Dr. Christopher Colbert is the assistant program director of emergency medicine at the University of Illinois, a Lieut. Col. in the United States Army reserves and holds multiple positions among national emergency medical societies.
Dr. Colbert has lectured and moderated emergency medicine events nationally and internationally receiving awards for both speaker engagement and contribution to medical education. Dr. Colbert, is a contributing author to the first social emergency medicine text entitled “Social emergency medicine” and a frequent medical contributor to local and national news and radio stations. Dr. Colbert was awarded Crain’s Chicago notable healthcare heroes of 2020 and 2021, and Chicago medicine “Who’s Who” of 2021 and a 2021 recipient of the Army commendation medal (ARCOM) during his recent deployment to Central America. Dr. Colbert received his undergraduate degree from Hampton University, medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is a graduate of the Midwestern University Emergency Medicine Residency Program and a fellow of AAEM, ACEP, and ACOEP.
Andrew Perron, MD
Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and DIO, Professor of Emergency Medicine with a CAQ in Sports Medicine, Dartmouth Health
Dr. Perron attended Dartmouth Medical School. He then trained in Emergency Medicine and did a fellowship in Sports Medicine, both at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He served as a program director in Emergency Medicine for 18 years and was the Associate DIO and Vice Chair for Education at Maine Medical Center prior to his current position as Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education at Dartmouth. He has published more than 200 articles, reviews and book chapters. He speaks regionally, nationally, and internationally on the topics of neuro-trauma and orthopedic emergencies. He was the ACEP “speaker of the year” in 2007 and has been recognized for his teaching nationally with the C.O.R.D. Distinguished Educator Award.
Andy Little, DO
Associate Program Director, AdventHealth East Orlando
Andy Little, DO is a graduate of Shawnee State University and is a 2012 graduate of Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. A 2016 graduate from the Doctors Hospital EM Residency in Columbus, Ohio where he served as a chief resident. He has research interests and experience in the areas of Airway Management, Vascular Access, Podcasting, and Educational Delivery Models. He is the recipient of the 2016 AOA EM Resident of the year, the 2018 ACOEP Ben Fields Mentorship Award, the 2019 EMRA 45 under 45, and the 2020 EMRA Joseph F Waeckerle, MD, FACEP - Alumni of the Year Award. Outside of his clinical and administrative roles, he is a Co-founder and Host for the EM Over Easy Podcast, as well as a Co-Host of the ERcast podcast from HippoEM. He also serves as the EMRA Cast Podcasting Fellowship Director, an editor for the Academic Life in EM blog, and is the Editor in Chief for EP Monthly.
Arun Sayal, MD
Associate Professor and Staff Physician, Emergency Department and Fracture Clinic, North York General Hospital, Toronto, ON
Arun is an emergency physician at North York General Hospital - a busy community academic hospital in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). In addition, he adds weekly work both in the Minor Fracture Clinic and assisting in
the operating room with orthopedic trauma cases. These follow-up experiences help him understand which ED injuries are commonly missed and/or mismanaged,
as well as why these errors may occur. He will share many pearls that will help you on your next shift.
Cam Berg, MD
Director of Acute Medicine, North Memorial Health
Cameron lives in Minneapolis, MN. He spends half of his time working weekend night shifts, and the other half trying to change healthcare delivery. He has achieved quite a lot of success by disambiguating complex care processes with competing interests (e.g. chest pain, syncope, heart failure treatment, etc.). Outside of work, Cameron tries to keep three young children alive and happy.
Chris Hahn, MD

Dr. Hahn received his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and trained in emergency medicine at Highland Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He lectures regularly on the national stage and has received both departmental and national teaching awards. Prior to entering medicine, Dr. Hahn was a hip-hop artist and he has combined his passions for music and medical education and created The EMC, a free open access website designed to entertain and teach topics in emergency medicine.
Chris Hicks, MD
Emergency physician and trauma team leader at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, and Assistant Professor and Clinician-Educator in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto
Chris is an emergency physician and trauma team leader at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. He has innovated in several areas of resuscitation and psychological skills, including mental practice, stress inoculation training. These days he enjoys a quieter life, free from the problematic corporate jib-jab of academic deliverables. In 2018, as a partial rebuke of the status quo, Chris co-created and chaired resusTO, an inter-professional simulation-based resuscitation conference in Toronto with international acclaim. In 2020, he co-founded Advanced Performance Healthcare Design, consulting with hospitals and industry using simulation to inform the design of systems, spaces and teams. Chris is an avid speaker and lecturer, staunch #FOAMed supporter, occasional runner and cyclist, fledgling boxer, semi-retired pianist, and proud father of three lunatic boys.
Drew Kalnow, DO

Drew completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and continues to practice. Having been told more than once he looks like a young Kelsey Grammer, he has a face for podcasting and is the co-host of ER Cast, as well as ER Cast EM Over Easy, a podcast about “more than medicine”. Drew is passionate about progressing the field of emergency medicine through high-quality education.
Emily Rose, MD
Director for Pre-Health Undergraduate Studies, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine (Educational Scholar) Department of Emergency Medicine Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center
Dr. Rose is the Director for Pre-Health Undergraduate Studies at Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. A native South Dakotan, she trained in Emergency Medicine and was chief resident at Los Angeles County/ USC Medical Center prior to completing a Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at Loma Linda University. She has been core Emergency Medicine faculty at LA County/USC Medical Center since 2010 where she continues to care for both sick/injured children and adults. Dr. Rose is a prolific educator with numerous publications and invited national presentations. Dr. Rose has been awarded several education awards including multiple LAC/USC faculty of the year awards, outstanding teaching performance, and the Honorable Mention Outstanding Speaker of the Year for the American College of Emergency Physician Scientific Assembly. She recently published two textbooks, one on life-threatening rashes and another practical clinical guide on pediatric emergencies for the EM-trained provider.
Geoff Comp, DO
Associate Program Director- Creighton University School of Medicine/Valleywise Health Medical Center (Phoenix) Emergency Medicine Residency
Dr. Geoff Comp is currently an Associate Program Director for the Creighton University School of Medicine Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the Valleywise Health Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona (Formerly Maricopa). Dr. Comp participates as a leader, mentor, educator, and advocate for EM medical education and wilderness medicine at various levels of education and training. His professional and research focus includes wilderness medicine, physician wellness, mentorship, as well as innovation in medical education. He constantly seeks opportunities to combine his interests through collaboration and outdoor exploration.
Ilene Claudius, MD
Professor of Emergency Medicine at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA
Dr. Claudius graduated from a dual Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine training program at UCLA. She is currently an attending physician at Harbor-UCLA in the pediatric and adult emergency departments, where she also serves as Director of Peer Review and Quality Improvement.
Jeffrey Tabas, MD
Professor of Emergency Medicine, University of California San Francisco
Dr. Tabas graduated from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed residency in internal medicine at UCLA-Ronald Reagan and emergency medicine at the UCLA-Ronald Reagan/Olive View program. He works clinically at San Francisco General Hospital. He is the director of faculty development for UCSF’s department of emergency medicine, and he is a director in the Office of CME for the UCSF School of Medicine. He has focused his career on education and research in both cardiovascular emergencies and procedural training.
Jess Pescatore, PharmD
Clinical Pharmacist - Emergency Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham
Dr. Rivera earned her PharmD from the University of Florida. She completed a pharmacy practice residency at Lakeland Regional Health in Lakeland, Florida in 2011 and went on to complete a Clinical Toxicology/Emergency Medicine Fellowship with the Florida Poison Information Center at UF Health Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida. For the past 6 years, Dr. Rivera has practiced as a Clinical Pharmacist in Emergency Medicine at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama where she is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Emergency Medicine. She is board-certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Applied Toxicology and serves her institution’s Office for Medical Toxicology and the Alabama Poison Information Center as a Clinical Toxicologist.
John Hunter, MD
Assistant Professor, Dept of Surgery, University of South Alabama
Dr. Hunter completed medical school and general surgery residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed fellowships in Minimally Invasive Surgery at UAB and Colon and Rectal Surgery at University of Texas at Houston. He is currently an assistant professor at the University of South Alabama, where he practices general and colorectal surgery. His primary interests include robotic surgery, colon and rectal cancer, diverticular disease, and student and resident education.
Rich Cantor, MD
Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at Upstate Medical University, Director of Pediatric Emergency Services at Golisano Children’s Hospital, and Medical Director for the Central New York Poison Control Center
Dr. Cantor is also the Director of the Fellowship Program In Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He is nationally known for his work as a researcher and educator in the fields of pediatric emergency medicine and toxicology. Cantor has held multiple leadership positions in the field of pediatric emergency medicine through ACEP and AAP. He currently serves on the following ACEP National Committees: Educational Meetings, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Public Relations, and Publications Advisory Board. He has also served on the editorial and development boards of national curricula including APLS: The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Resource. He received the ACEP Outstanding Speaker of the Year Award in 1994 and the ACEP National Education Award in Emergency Medicine in 2002. In 2009, he published a textbook, Neonatal Emergencies, which has received a special commendation award from the 2010 British Medical Association Committee. He is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics and American Board of Emergency Medicine Joint Sub-board in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Dr. Cantor is a well known invited International Speaker in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, having spoken in Europe, India, and the Middle East. At Upstate Medical University, he serves as an Advisory Dean, is a member of the Medical School Admissions Committee, and is on the Medical Alumni Board of Directors.
Reuben Strayer, MD

Reuben Strayer, author of emupdates.com, is an emergency physician based in New York City. His clinical areas of interest include airway management, analgesia, opioid misuse, procedural sedation, agitation, decision-making and error. His extra-clinical areas of interest include sweeping generalizations and jalapeño peppers. He lures himself out of bed with chocolate before heading to Maimonides Medical Center, in Brooklyn, where he is happily employed.
Rob Orman, MD

He received his medical degree from Emory University and completed emergency medicine residency at Denver Health Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. Rob spent the next 20 years as a community emergency physician before becoming a full time coach. He is the creator of the ERcast and Stimulus podcasts and has hosted Essentials of Emergency Medicine for the past decade.
Scott Weingart, MD
Director of Clinical Education and Faculty Development Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow, NY, USA
Dr. Weingart received his medical degree and completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He then went on to fellowships in Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and ECMO at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
He is currently an attending at Nassau University Medical Center. He is a professor of emergency medicine at Nassau University Medical Center and an adjunct professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
He is best known for his podcast on Resuscitation and ED Critical Care called the EMCrit Podcast; it currently is downloaded > 400,000 times per month.
Solomon Behar, MD

Dr. Behar is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada and a Graduate of The University of California, Berkeley and University of Nevada School of Medicine. He trained in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles, served as Chief Resident there and brings a wide variety of clinical experience in Pediatric Emergency Medicine to the table. As the father of 3 children, he’s got street cred when it comes to kids and is thankful that most of you enjoy caring for self-destructive adults so that he doesn’t have to.
Starr Knight, MD

Dr. Starr Knight is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). She is the inaugural Director of Faculty Experience at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG). Dr. Knight is an Emergency Medicine Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Endowed Professor. She serves as the Associate Chair of Diversity & Inclusion in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Knight was a Class of 2016 John A. Watson Scholar and has received numerous teaching awards, including the UCSF Academy of Medical Educator’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2020 and was recently awarded the 2022 UCSF Academy Senate Distinction in Mentoring Award. Dr. Knight is committed to the community and the mentorship of underrepresented learners by widening the educational pathway at various stages of training. Dr. Knight received her MD from Medical College of Wisconsin after studying Biology at University of California, Riverside. She has been faculty at UCSF since 2012 and prior to that completed her residency at Alameda County Medical Center/Highland Hospital and her fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at UCSF.
Thomas DeLoughery, MD
Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health and Science University
Tom DeLoughery is a native Hoosier who graduated from Indiana State University in 1981 (one year after Larry Bird) and the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1985. He did his internship at the University of California, Irvine before traveling to Oregon where he finished his internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology fellowship.
He is currently a professor of medicine, pathology and pediatrics in the Divisions of Hematology/Oncology and Laboratory Medicine at OHSU. His clinical interests are in blood diseases, hemostasis, and thrombosis, subjects on which he has written extensively. He has won numerous teaching awards and has given education sessions to national meetings of many professional societies. He is the course director for the medical school Blood Course and was a co-developer of the Blood and Host Defense course for the New Curriculum.
He also has an interest in the hematologic aspects of sport and travel medicine and served six years on the board of directors of the Wilderness Medicine Society and has chaired their research committee. He is a master at the American College of Physicians and Fellows of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine. This year the 3rd edition of his popular handbook Hemostasis and Thrombosis was published.
