When we last covered the PA Licensure Compact in our November 2023 blog: The Realities of PA Military Life, only two states had adopted the Compact. At the time, my family and I were bracing ourselves for a classic Maine winter. Think snowbanks taller than your car and possible moose sightings on a grocery run.
Measles was declaredeliminated in the United States in 2000. Yet, in 2025, it’s back with force. At the time of this writing, theCDC reports outbreaks in 31 states, with 1,001 confirmed cases and two pediatric deaths—96% of those infected being either unvaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status against measles. One-third of U.S. cases this year have occurred in children under age five, including infants under 12 months.
As we enjoy the remainder of our summer but look ahead to the upcoming school year, it’s time to start thinking about those back-to-school physicals and routine immunizations for our patients and our own kiddos. In this blog post, we will offer insight into two current methods of offering HPV vaccinations to our youngsters and their parents/caregivers and discuss which method improves HPV vaccination rates.
