Outside work, Ashley balances her love for fitness on her Peloton with cozy evenings reading thrillers alongside her bernedoodle.

When she’s not at Hippo, Neda writes for national publications, produces public radio stories, and enjoys trying new restaurants with her family.

Sol has been the host of Peds RAP since its launch in 2015, using his love for teaching to break down complex topics in ways that resonate with clinicians. Outside of work, his three kids keep him grounded – and give him an excuse to stay current on YA literature.

Michael Baca-Atlas, MD, FASAM

Michael Baca-Atlas completed his medical training at the University of Maryland before moving to UNC for his Family Medicine residency and Addiction Medicine fellowship. He now serves as the associate medical director for the Tobacco Treatment Program and medical consultant for UNC Horizons. As the medical director of UNC REACH Enhanced Primary Care, Michael focuses on treating patients with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. Outside work, you’ll find him traveling, experimenting with takeout-style cooking, or spending time with his spouse.

Matthew Zeitler, MD

Matt Zeitler is a clinical assistant professor and Associate Program Director for UNC’s Family Medicine Residency. He completed his medical degree at the University of Maryland and his residency at UNC, where he served as chief resident. Matt practices full-scope family medicine across outpatient clinics, rural hospitals, and maternal-child health services. He also teaches procedures like vasectomies and point-of-care ultrasound and contributes to the Primary Care RAP podcast.

Karen Hovav is a Los Angeles-based pediatrician with over 15 years of experience. After completing her pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, she has worked in various clinical settings, from rural hospitals to fast-paced urgent care. Karen has written for platforms like WhatsUpMoms and GoodRx, sharing her passion for health education. As a medical editor for Peds RAP, she brings that same enthusiasm to supporting clinicians. In her free time, she enjoys ambitious baking projects and planning family adventures.

Matt DeLaney, MD

Matthew DeLaney is the voice behind ERCast and a University of Alabama at Birmingham professor. Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, he took a detour to Maine Medical Center for his EM residency after medical school at the University of South Alabama. Before joining the UAB faculty, Matthew worked in community EDs where his love for teaching took root. He co-hosted Urgent Care RAP for years before taking the reins at ERCast. At home, he lives with his wife Erin, who is also a doctor, and their two daughters.

Micaela Bowers, MD

Micaela Bowers has always been drawn to caring for patients with complex conditions, so it’s no surprise she chose Internal Medicine and Pediatrics as her specialty. After completing her training at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she also served as chief resident, Micaela brought her talents to Chicago. Now, she splits her time between treating adults and children at Erie Family Health Centers, being a medical editor at Hippo Education, and spending time with her family, which is where she truly recharges.

Tom Robertson is on faculty at Allegheny General Hospital, where he’s the Associate Program Director and Director of Ultrasound Education for the Internal Medicine residency program. After medical school at the University of Maryland, Tom completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh, focusing on global health and underserved communities. He also co-directs the RIvER Post-Incarceration Clinic, with clinical interests in bedside ultrasound, medical education, and improving care for marginalized populations.
