2024 was a banner year for Hippo Education, as we focused on providing resources that cater specifically to the growing number of nurse practitioners (NPs) entering and advancing in clinical practice. With more NPs taking on essential roles in healthcare, Hippo has made a concerted effort to create practical, high-quality content to support their growth and success. Here are our top three highlights from this year:
1. We Launched a Podcast
This year, we introduced "Making the Shift: From RN to NP," a podcast that focuses on supporting NPs who are transitioning from being a Registered Nurse (RN) to a Nurse Practitioner. This journey can be complex and challenging, with new responsibilities, expectations, and skill sets required.
Through candid conversations with seasoned NPs and healthcare leaders, the podcast offers actionable tips, insights, and strategies to help make the leap into clinical practice smoother. Whether you’re in the middle of this transition or looking to refine your skills, "Making the Shift" has your back.
2. We Wrote a Clinical Resource Guide
Hippo also rolled out the free NP Clinical Resource Guide—a 15-chapter handbook covering the common, yet often undifferentiated, chief complaints they will encounter in primary care.
Each chapter tackles real-world cases like abdominal pain, dyspnea, and chest pain, offering evidence-based strategies and actionable steps to guide assessments and evaluate these cases effectively. This streamlined, practical guide empowers NPs to deliver efficient, high-quality care while building a strong clinical foundation they can rely on throughout their careers.
3. We’ve Added Pharmacology Hours
Knowing how critical pharmacology education is for NPs, we introduced Practical Pharmacology: An Outpatient Audio Course.
This course was developed with the unique needs of NPs in mind, offering CE credits while delivering up-to-date pharmacological knowledge in an accessible, on-the-go format. With practical discussions and the latest updates in drug therapies, Practical Pharmacology ensures that NPs can stay informed and confident in prescribing, managing, and adjusting medications in outpatient settings.
